About twenty kilometers south-west of Perpignan, Castelnou is wedged at the foot of the Aspres with, as a backdrop, the Canigou, the mythical mountain of the Catalans. Dominating the village, the Vicomtal castle had to adapt its pentagonal shape to the steep and irregular ridges of the rock that welcomes it.
